Cosmic Connect

Sweetie

In the late summer of 2004, I was surprised to find two racoons nesting nightly on my rooftop. It seems that through the feline grapevine, a Mama Raccoon had heard that a kind hearted human lived in the neighborhood. Mama had birthed seven pups and could not possibly keep all of them in sight. She knew she would have to leave a few behind as winter was soon setting in. She knew her pups were too young to make it on their own through the winter, but figured that if she left a few in my care, she could take the rest of her babies and would try as best as she could, to manage the remainder of them somehow. She deposited the two babies on my roof and proceeded to take her brood to the next neigborhood.

I was absolutely fascinated with these cubs who were unusually friendly. These two were named Sweetie and Dante. I was careful not to touch them for I knew that creating a close human bond with me would hurt their chances in an urban area, where humans abound. But I began talking to them nightly and left them racoon food; berries, grapes, tomatoes and some cat food mix. They came each night and slept thru the night on my roof. Shortly thereafter, when I realized they considered the rooftop their permanant 'home', I secured a few well covered cat carriers stuffed with pillows so as to enable them to have shelter during the rain and snow. I was happy to have them there and visited with them nightly. They are enormously joyful creatures and I felt it an honor to be allowed to watch over them.

In the second week however, I noticed that there were now three raccoons, and each week the number grew until there were seven total on my roof each night. This disturbed me for seven raccoons are not the quietest babies of planet Earth. Suddenly I found myself running to the window several times during the night to hush up the commotion of raccoon style glee. I immediately channeled with them again for I have learned that the very process of channeling with animals does indeed shift behaviors. It is as if once the animals know you accept them on an equal level of beingness, they will very easily and happily cooperate with your requests - most of the time. In channeling session #2, we discussed the importance of our human-raccoon secret.

I live in an urban area and the neighbors on either side of my home are quite close to my property. I was concerned for their safety, as the masses of human beings are not ready or prepared to accept into their reality, the idea of entertaining cordial relations with wild raccoons - just yet. There is still so much fear in the human psyche that it takes a very unusual type of person to truly, and from a deep level, feel totally safe with that which most of us have been taught to fear. Since I have raised wild animals since childhood, I never gave in to the fear, as my direct and physical experience with all wild animals has been nothing but joyful and exciting.

The reason I was now housing seven babies was that Mama Raccoon met with an untimely death suddenly and having nowhere else to go, the remaining five called out for help. Animals communicate in ways we humans cannot yet audibly hear. The two who were safe and cared for on my rooftop led the others to their secret haven and suddenly I was a surrogate mama for an entire brood. Several channeling sessions enabled me to communicate the need for them to behave and stay quiet and I'm pleased to say that for an entire winter and full spring, I and the raccoons pulled off our secret mission of getting them through the winter. I communicated to them that the safest area for them would be at a local riverbank, where they would be safe from the streets and seperated from humans.

We collectively agreed that half of them would meander safely at night, approimately 20 blocks down the street to the pond, so that I would have a limited amount of activity on the rooftop and the youngsters could get off the busy street. Sweetie, Dante and a third sibling remained for awhile. Then, through summer of 05, finally Sweetie and her siblings found a shed a few doors away. They remained there for a short while, as my channeling with the Starkitties was opening up a portal that was drawing many stray cats and pregnant mama's to my yard. The raccoons moved on because the neighborhood simply got too busy.

It's been close to a year since I've seen Sweetie and her brother and other sibling. The enormous demand on me from 13 stray kitties who graced my property this past summer eventually sent all the raccoons to the locale I'd decribed, which is rather far from my home. Not wanting Sweetie to jeopardize her health by traveling streets just to see me I have asked her to stay where she is safe.  This is what she and her clan have recently related with purpose for the Starkitty Meta Edu Program:

Sweetie says the third sibling that traveled with her brother and her died by car some time ago. Presently of the seven originally born, five are still alive. Sweetie takes care of her brother Dante. Sweetie says she likes her name because it helps humanity to understand that they are not to be feared, but are to be honored and that humans should endeavor learn to co-exist with them without fear in mind.

Sweetie thanked me for the great location I sent her to. She says the fishing is great and the food plentiful. They are very happy where they are. She reports that she will be having many babies in the spring and that her brother will separate from her shortly to go find his own mate. Their father is still alive and close to them. Their mother remains in spirit but very close to them.

I asked Sweetie what info she would like to offer on behalf of Raccoon species for her Starkitty feature page.

Sweetie says:

There are many different levels that raccoon species intersects realities on planet Earth. On level one, there is simply the daily routine, procreation and simple basic survival. On the second level there are raccoon relations with other species and with humanity, where there is both interference and assistance experienced via this exchange process. The third level is in the role of totem or spirit guide. She tells people to begin to tap into what raccoon represents in totem. Many of these qualities refer to adaptability, survival against all odds and the ability to take the garbage of others and turn it into useful food and sustenance.

She also speaks about the mask they all wear on their faces. She wishes for people to know that raccoons are extremely bright and cunning. This is why they appear so fierce to humans. They wear masks to physically demonstrate their prowess and cunningness in getting what they need to survive in life. This cunningess is not a negative but is a necessary skill. It is not the same as human cunningness that is tainted with ill will or 'to hurt others' mentality. They wish that more humans will embrace all raccoon qualities in order to help bring about a dimensional shift that will ultimately enable humans to begin to accept the dreams and voices of all species, so that a more harmonious experience for all may unfold.

February 06 Update: Sweetie traveled all the way from the safe banks of the river where I'd sent her to see me after I channeled her for her Starkitty quote. She looked good and healthy. I told her more than her visiting me, I wanted her to remain safe and off the streets. I was thrilled to see her again. I have a funny feeling she will show me her babies when she has them this coming summer.

Summer 07 Update:

Though on a few rare late night occasions, I managed to spot a few roaming raccoons, I could not tell if it was Sweetie and Dante or other raccoons. I have been so busy this year with additional felines, I have not had the chance to check in with the raccoons. We will in the future however, attempt to contact them.
