Prince Harry was one of two neighborhood cats that survived amputation of a limb by a car hit
this past year. With a smashed, twisted and bloody leg, he cried and hobbled about the
neighborhood for THREE DAYS looking for some human to help him. Total cost to save him =
$1,500.00. It took a concentrated coalition of dozens of people to come together to help
one cat that SOME local PET OWNER abandoned. Prince Harry was not only gravely
injured, he was yet one more unneutered FIV+ male cat found roaming the neighborhood.
Prince Harry could have been feral (thus yet another town issue of human negligence)
but it turns out - The Prince was found to be an adorable and affectionate cat once captured.
Prince Harry had belonged to SOMEONE in the neighborhood!
How could his owners have IGNORED his cries, his smashed foot and leave him to die?
Why did not ANY OTHER NEIGHBOR out of hundreds of houses in the vicinity

Many of you who consider yourselves well meaning, 'do the right thing' pet owners who find yourselves stretching dollars and looking around the house to see what expenses can be cut are immediately and without thought, zooming in on the pet. Yes, you've loved your pet up till now but the children come first, you rationalize. So you take your pet to the shelter and hope the shelter will find it a good home.
WHAT 99% of you DON'T KNOW and this is coming as an insider tip: (as rescuers, foster parents and volunteer workers are beginning to share what's really going on at MANY shelters where they work)
1) Shelters all across America, including the NO KILL ones are beginning to secretly and quietly euthanize cats and dogs left and right because the in streaming of abandoned pets nationwide is astronomically overwhelming!
2) When you go to drop off your pet at the local shelter YOU SEE a pair of compassionate and loving volunteer worker arms taking your Fluffy the cat away in a soft blanket. What you DON'T SEE is that YOUR BELOVED PETis immediately placed in a metal cage and 'quarantined' for a few weeks. Fluffy sits scared out of her wits - alone, listening to the howls and cries of other 'relinquished pets' she cannot even see. Why do we call it relinquishing anyway? Is it because it rolls off the tongue a little easier than the word A-B-A-N-D-O-N-M-E-N-T?
3) Fluffy then gets shifted to an even noisier environment, where she is doubled and sometimes tripled up in one cage with other totally terrified abandoned pets.
4) YOU THINK the shelter will adopt friendly outgoing Fluffy right away. After all - that's what shelters DO right? That's their JOB, right? But Fluffy and her cage mates will live this way in the crowded noisy environment 24/7 and MOST of them will never EVER make it out of the cage, except for a trip to a room where a shot puts them out of their misery forever.
5) From the moment YOU leave the shelter, while YOU sleep, while YOU drive to work the next day and while YOU take the kids out to buy a Christmas tree, Fluffy sits terrified, cold and scared ALL THAT TIME. Close your eyes. Can you count 60 seconds and focus on being scared for that long? How many of you opened your eyes before the 60 seconds were up - out of boredom?
6) Here's the KICKER about your beloved Fluffy: Those of you who once entertained a very bold and friendly household kitty have now imposed such fear and uncertainty in that kitty's psyche, that YOUR PET now cowers in a cage and fears all humans. 'Fluffy' is not the friendly kitty you once knew. Fluffy has been hurt, abandoned, has no idea what is going to happen in the very next moment and Fluffy is emotionally distraught ALL the time now. And Fluffy is scheduled to DIE by euthanasia because she is now deemed by the shelter to be 'unadoptable' - because scared kitties who cower in cages cannot be socialized fast enough. OOOPS - wasn't THAT shelter supposed to be a NO KILL shelter? Who's gonna tell ya 'bout it? Who's ever gonna know what's happened to Fluffy - except the wonderful, loving and compassionate volunteers who painstakingly come in each day to clean, feed and offer a moments worth of soothing human words to her?
7) It is the VOLUNTEERS who see what has happened to all of these once friendly, outgoing and happy pets that are starting to share their grief over what they must witness every day. It is by word of mouth via the heartbroken VOLUNTEERS that the REALITY of what's going on behind closed doors is spreading out for public notice. TRUTH can never be contained. TRUTH no matter how ugly sets all free. TRUTH people, is what we must collectively face up to together.
8) The TRUTH is that 80% of the 'do good people' who gave up their Fluffy's, KEPT the extra 2 TV's they didn't need. They KEPT the 3 notebook computers the household owns. Their kids KEPT the iPods, the cell phones and the computer games. The GROWNUPS KEPT the cable TV, the Internet service and bought the new navigation system for their car this year. 85% of the human population flooded to the malls on black Friday for super Xmas sales! BUT FLUFFY got relinquished because Fluffy's forever people couldn't AFFORD to feed Fluffy anymore.
What has happened to humanity???
9) Here's THE TRUTH of the shelter situation. The shelters are overwhelmed. It's so bad the circumstances, that many of them have succumbed to becoming 'money making machines', which euthanize older cats and concentrate on acquiring as many 'easy sell' kittens as they possibly can find! The adoption agencies can collect up to $125.00 per fuzzy little kitten, without having to spend extra fees that they normally must spend to heal the injured and diseased older cats. KITTENS are FAST MONEY for a shelter. MONEY begets GREED begets fallen human integrity.
10) ABOUT THE KITTEN CRAZE FACTOR: Kittens should never be altered before 6 months, but many shelters are doing it much sooner, compromising the hormone system which is necessary for proper growth. BUT EVEN WORSE, many shelters can sell the little cute YOUNGER fuzzy kitties unaltered, thus passing vet fees onto the new owners. SO, COST AND RESPONSIBILITY of altering the kitten is up to the 'impulse buyer' who thought that Baby Fluffy No. 2 would make a great Xmas gift for a child.
11) Many shelters are pushing out as many kitten sales (disguised legally as DONATION FEES!) as they can. They are beginning to relinquish their initial rules of integrity because they're just trying to keep up with the constant inflow of relinquished kitties. You see, probably 100 percent of your local shelter owners started out as incredibly compassionate human beings. But over time, the expanding pressures of societal ignorance has forced the shelters to have to figure out how keep the rescued cats they have already saved, fed and maintained.
The growing behavioral ignorance of pet owners across the nation requires the shelters to begin to adjust their originally high standards to meet the lower standards of 'general public awareness'. Since human consciousness on a mass level has a long way to go before it matures enough to understand how it’s destructive behavior against animals and the planet flips back to negatively affect HUMANITY - the shelters will continue to press against their initial integrity just to physically survive.
So the shelters are killing off the older cats, scrambling to find ‘easy sell’ kittens (which isn’t hard by the way) and they are selling them off to an uneducated public – just so they’ll have enough money to keep their shelters going. They're not so careful who they adopt out to anymore. But easy kitten sales just feed the ‘old pattern’ immature human behavior!
So it turns into an incredibly vicious cycle!
The ignorant and immature public feeding off the 'me first, I want what I want when I want it' kitten frenzy are adopting baby Fluffy's everywhere. Then they're letting them out to be free in the neighborhood. OOPS - but they're forgetting to alter them, which was the responsibility the shelter passed off to the new kitten owner by ‘good faith contract’. So little Fluffy's in every neighborhood are meeting up with little Fred's and making baby kittens - about 3-4 batches a year!
12) COME ON HUMANS We are creative beings! We all like to think of ourselves as LOVING, COMPASSIONATE PEOPLE! But in the economic slide - everyone is panicking and dissing their loving, compassionate sides and going for the EASY OUT.
13) A PET is NOT a dispensable object. The rationale to keep cable TV, or old furniture you have stacked up in the garage, attic and extra closets over a beloved pet IS INSANE and IRRESPONSIBLE, INHUMAN BEHAVIOR!
We are SOULS first and HUMAN second! Each of us will DIE eventually and we will take NOTHING with us when we go. BUT we WILL see those pets on the other side. And THERE IS something called KARMA. It's not what most people think. It is energetic. What we sow we reap. On an intrinsic and very basic level, way down deep - WE ALL KNOW THIS!
Why is not ANYONE thinking about what THEIR SOUL is accountable for?
Pet Owners: PAY ATTENTION to how you are behaving on the planet!
Ask EXACTLY what happens to Fluffy BEFORE you 'relinquish' her!
ASK FRIENDS neighbors or co-workers to help you to KEEP Fluffy!
DO SOMETHING MORE THAN TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT!

14) We can rationalize putting our Fluffy's in shelters all day long. We can blame the stock brokers, the politicians, the greedy bank people and so forth for poor Fluffy's ultimate demise. But at the end of the day, when we face ourselves in the mirror and have to look at the absolute TRUTH of our own soul's actions - if we still have that extra TV, iPod, cell phone and cable hookup but FLUFFY is forever gone - WE TOO are as GUILTY AS SIN!
THINK TWICE. THINK HARD!
There are OTHER creative ways to work thru the poor economy.
AND FLUFFY DOES NOT HAVE TO DIE because of it!
